10 Movie Passion Projects That Will Never Get Made
10. Orson Welles' The Other Side Of The Wind
As it happens, the incredibly influential and prodigiously talented filmmaker and actor behind the likes of The Third Man and Citizen Kane didn't get to end his career on a high note. The final film role of Orson Welles was as the voice of Unicron, the planet-sized evil robot from the animated Transformers movie. Before that? It was a wine advert where he was too soused to act. Which is not exactly the lasting legacy the star of Touch Of Evil was expecting, nor deserved. If he'd actually been able to complete it his final film would've been The Other Side Of The Wind. A satire of Hollywood shot in a mockumentary style and starring other big-name directors like John Huston and Peter Bogdanovich, Welles spent six years on the project, supposedly his comeback picture, which remained unfinished when he died in 1985. Bogdanovich has been trying to complete it since.
