5. Hill Valley Courthouse Became A Mall Because All Lawyers Were Abolished - Back To The Future Part II

In Back to the Future Part II, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) travels to the future of 2015, where he finds that the Hill Valley Courthouse has been transformed into a nifty mall.

This is an early indication that the movie's 2015 isn't so great, where what was once a physical embodiment of the scales of justice has been replaced with a soulless monument to consumerism.

But it actually has wider implications when you consider that Doc (Christopher Lloyd) informs Marty at one point that lawyers have been abolished in this future and the U.S. criminal justice system now renders a legal verdict within two hours of an individual's arrest.

Without lawyers, there likely wasn't the same need for a courthouse, nor were there any lawyers present to contest the courthouse being turned into a mall in the first place, ironically.
