10 Movie Post-Credit Scenes That Went Absolutely Nowhere

8. Tony Stark And The Avengers - The Incredible Hulk

The Scene

After he fudges his attempt to bring Bruce Banner in by using Emil Blonsky as a counter-weapon (without checking he wasn't utterly unhinged), General Thunderbolt Ross sits in a bar necking booze when Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark enters to goad him about the use of super soldier serum and then mentions the fact that he's "putting a team together."

What It Teased

That Tony Stark was involved in putting together the Avengers team and was out looking for opportunities. It was thought for a while that this scene meant he was looking to recruit the Hulk, but it made no sense for him to be coming to see Ross, who'd have no clue where he was.

Instead, this looked more like Stark offering his services to Ross to DEAL with the Hulk, who could have been set up as the villain of the Avengers.

But...

The MCU went in a different way entirely after The Incredible Hulk was deemed a comparative disaster. The character was recast and essentially rebooted with Mark Ruffalo coming in and his backstory mostly being ignored. He was never a villain in The Avengers, though he showed his teeth a few times.

Ultimately, this - particularly Stark's role in the Initiative - was simply brushed under the carpet with a One Shot dealing with him trying to recruit the Abomination for the team. But it was still a glorified dead-end.
