10 Movie Powers That Would't Be As Cool As You Think

4. Liquid Metal - Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Power: Being made of mercury. Why it would suck: I know, right? One of the baddest bad guys in all of cinema is T-1000. Cool and calculating. Robert Patrick owes his entire career to this role. He was so awesome that he ruined villains in this franchise from T2 on. But, if we're being frank, his power is that he's a giant puddle. Okay, not a puddle exactly. He can replicate things... that he touches. Also, he can replicate objects... unless they're too complicated. Also, he's indestructible... to a point. Yeah, there's a lot of holes in this guy when you start to poke at him... oh, that's another thing, you can literally put holes in him. It seems to me that the metal part wasn't as emphasized as the liquid part. Any gun blast penetrates his exterior. Any blast at all sends him into a million pieces and, yes, those pieces will come back together better than you will under the same circumstances, but what fun is it being an indestructible pile of shiny goo if you spend all your time putting yourself back together? Looking at it from that perspective, it kind of makes you wonder what the real benefit was from switching from the Schwarzenegger model. At least Arnie could take a little explosion here and there. Back to the no replicating complex objects thing, um... why? Why would you go through all the trouble of creating something so complex for the sole purpose of being a weapon and stop reading the manual right before the chapter titled "becoming complex weapons"? I realize that, had T-1000 been able to become a gun or a bomb, that would have killed a lot of tension in the film. I also more or less understand the logic of it. After all, he's not duplicating a human being's entire internal organ system when he replicates, simply their outer shell. However, I think if you're going to have a power that allows you to turn into stuff, you should be able to turn into stuff that's complicated. Especially when everybody's talking about how complex and awesome you are all the time.
