10 Movie Priests Who Totally Kicked Ass

7. Reverend Graham Hess €“ Signs (2002)

In, what is probably Mel Gibson€™s last somewhat good movie (which is a little sad) the actor plays Reverend Graham Hess, a former Episcopal priest who lost his faith for a good enough reason but then regains it for a not-so-good reason. In what is also M. Night Shyamalan€™s last somewhat good film, aliens invade earth but ultimately decide to flee because they€™re allergic to water (or something like that, who knows), they must not have realised that earth is damn near entirely covered in H2O to the extent that it actually falls from the sky. Anyway, Mel Gibson€™s character doesn't really get that many points for actually kicking much ass (other than screaming like a girl and impulsively chopping off the fingers of an alien who was locked in a cupboard). However, he does get points for bravery, as he stays relatively calm throughout the film (sometimes even alarmingly so) and will do absolutely anything to protect his children - Morgan (Rory Culkin) and young Bo (Abigail Breslin) - like any good father should. Speaking of his kids, did anybody else think Rory Culkin was the creepiest thing about this entire film?
