6. EVA Pod
Where You've Seen It: 2010 (definitely), 2001: A Space Odyssey (possibly) & Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (unfortunately) If you look closely during the scene at Watto's junkyard during the abomination that Star Wars fans prefer not to remember, you can catch a quick glimpse of one of an Extra Vehicular Activity pod that was purportedly from Stanley Kubrick's opus 2001: A Space Odyssey. No doubt placed there by George Lucas as an homage to a movie and filmmaker who inspired him, upon further research the origin of the pod is up for some debate. Stanley Kubrick supposedly had all the sets and props from his sci-fi classic destroyed long before The Phantom Menace was ever filmed. If that's true, that would mean this pod isn't from 2001, but instead one of the replicas built for the 1984 sequel 2010: The Year We Make Contact. Either way, it's a nice little nod from one science fiction master to another, although it would be nice if Lucas had chosen to include it in one his less ghastly offensive installments.
