10 Movie Remakes Much Better Than The Original

9. Angels In The Outfield (1994)

Christopher Lloyd, an incredibly young Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and a "too old for this s--t" Danny Glover all starred in the updated, more family-friendly story about a group of angels who help a baseball team win the pennant. A few changes were made to the 90s version, erasing the spunky reporter (played by Psycho's Janet Leigh) trying to get the big story, and instead focusing almost entirely on the orphaned kid who finds an unlikely father figure angle. And although Leigh played the "lost" role admirably, there was really no room for that in the Disney-fied version, as we went right into the Christopher Lloyd-as-slightly-dickish-but-super-funny angel leading his gang of athletic spirits into action on the baseball field. Oh, also appearing in this version of the film? Adrien Brody, Dermot Mulroney, Neal McDonough, and freaking Matthew McConaughey. (And Tony Danza. But his name doesn't exactly help up-sell a product these days.) So, yeah, based on that alone, this movie is a lot more fun to watch than the 50s version.
