10 Movie Remakes You Didn't Know Were In The Works

The Original: The 1997 debut feature from FX artist turned director Mark AZ Dippé adapted Todd McFarlane's grim and gritty comic book into a CGI-driven PG-13 blockbuster, much to the annoyance of fans.

The Remake: McFarlane has for many years declared his intent to direct a new Spawn movie himself, with the promise of staying far closer to the source material in tone and content. Reportedly, Jamie Foxx has agreed to take over from Michael Jai White in the tite role, and Jason Blum is poised to produce.

Should We Be Excited?

Few would dispute that time has not been kind to the original Spawn movie. Indeed, many would say that it wasn't much cop when it arrived in the first place, what with its over-reliance on middle-of-the-road digital FX, and a somewhat camp teen-friendly style that was far removed from both the original comics and the animated HBO series which preceded it.

While comics legend Todd McFarlane has directed a number of music videos, this would be his first feature, so fans might be forgiven for having a little anxiety on that front. However, producer Jason Blum not so long ago worked with a certain first time feature director named Jordan Peele on a certain movie called Get Out, and we all know how that turned out.

And let's face it, whatever happens it can't be much worse than the 1997 movie, right?
