10 Movie Scenes Too Crazy For Cinema
6. Blowing Up Dinosaurs In Jurassic Park III
The filmmakers behind the 2001 sequel asked the US military if they could borrow specific jets for a scene where they would battle mid-air against a flock of pterosaurs.
The military liaison officer refused on the grounds that the dinosaurs would just explode: ‘[The A-10 Thunderbolts] are tank killers. A flying dinosaur is no match for an A-10. It would only cause the audience to feel pity for the dinosaur.’
It is probable that this decision was made due to audience responses to the ending of the DOD-sponsored Godzilla (1998), where the monster is shot dead with missiles by Marine Corps jets.
