10 Movie Science Experiments That Went Horribly Wrong

3. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (2011)

Rise of the Planet of the Apes This is one to get all of the animal right activists in a rage. We all know that human and monkeys share a common ancestor. So what€™s the point in enhancing their intelligence when we are the outcome in the flesh? James Franco and co weren€™t originally attempting to increase the intelligence of chimpanzees, that was just an after effect of the drug ALZ-112 they were testing on the primates to see if they had cured Alzheimer's. When one of the company€™s main subjects, Bright Eyes, goes crazy, all of the chimps are euthanized €“ except for one. Franco discovers Bright Eyes was protecting her secret baby chimp so he takes the new-born home because, you know, it€™s better that young Caesar doesn€™t suffer the same outcome as his mother. Obviously eventually someone€™s going to find out that you are hiding an intelligent chimp so Caesar is sent off to a monkey shelter. Because of his intelligence, Caesar climbs up the ape hierarchy at the shelter and becomes alpha chimp, steals the newly improved ALZ-113 and makes all his fellow apes as clever as him. While San Francisco is being overrun by chimps, it turns out that the ALZ-113 drug is a deadly virus to humans. Said drug is currently spreading across the world so this experiment is going to wipe out the whole of humanity. Grand! Caesar and co are pretty comfortable off though as they chillax at Redwood forest before it€™s time for them to rule the world. It€™s what we get for messing with our own species.
