7. No Footprints - Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Say what you want about Star Wars: The Last Jedi - and people frequently do - but the attention to detail Rian Johnson painted into his vision of the Galaxy Far, Far Away was astonishing. Costume design, world-building and characters cannot be faulted, no matter how many issues people have suggested the story might have.

Somewhat controversially, the ending sees the newly curmudgeonly Luke Skywalker going full Force powers and standing up to Kylo Ren's forces in order to allow the other heroes a chance to escape. Ultimately, it's revealed the Skywalker on-show - with his suspiciously young-looking hair - is actually just a projection and Luke dies from the effort, causing a million fanboy voices to cry out at once.

Cleverly, if you look closely at the scene, which everyone did AFTER the first time, and there was a huge clue that Luke wasn't even there. When he and Kylo go toe-to-toe, the latter's feet kick up the red salt of the planet's surface, but Luke leaves no footprints whatsoever. Because he has no feet.
