10 Movie Sequels Made Bad Through The Hero's Kid

8. Kiara - The Lion King II: Simba's Pride

The Lion King Simba was a great character. He was a son who grew up having to carry the weight of having killed his own father, the beloved king Mufasa. He then buried his ghosts and responsibilities in years and years of "Hakuna Matata" nihilism, before being called up to duty by his once soul mate Nala to overthrow Scar and restore the right dynasty. Simba had a great character arc, and by contrast his daughter Kiara simply falls short in every possible way in this direct to video sequel. The all to familiar Romeo and Juliet template does little to help the originality of this sequel, which misleadingly featured Simba's name in the title but hardly showed the true king onscreen. This is not the only Disney classic to have been stained by a lesser sequel involving the original character's offspring: The Little Mermaid and The Lady And The Tramp suffered the same fate.
