10 Movie Sequels That Recast Major Characters (For The Better)

7. Max - The Secret Life Of Pets 2

Sometimes, movies lose a talent due to the behind-the-scenes misbehavior of their stars. Joining Kevin Spacey and T.J. Miller (replaced by a soundalike in How to Train Your Dragon 3) in their disgrace is comedian Louis C.K., dropped from his role as Max in The Secret Life of Pets 2.

Max - the film's leading pup - will now be played by actor and comedian Patton Oswalt and, while C.K. has since returned to the standup circuit, it's unlikely that the movie roles will roll in as freely as they once did. As a solid comedy performer in his own right, and without any of C.K.'s unsavoury predatory history, this one is a win-win for studios and audiences alike. Louis C.K., meanwhile, remains firmly in the doghouse.
