Freddy vs. Jason, Alien vs. Predator, Batman v Superman, these movies rarely work, yet studios continue to pit their biggest properties against one another in the hope that, one day, it will result in the ultimate crossover showdown.
In the case of Godzilla Vs. Kong, Legendary Entertainment is literally pitting its biggest properties against one another, as the King of Monsters locks horns with the oversized ape for the right to sit on the MonsterVerse throne.
The versus movie will serve as a sequel to next year's Godzilla: King of the Monsters and also follow on from the events of last year's Kong: Skulls Island, and while how these two behemoths cross paths is yet to be revealed, it's a safe bet to assume the Monarch organisation has something to do with it.
Blair Witch director Adam Wingard is helming the monster-on-monster slugfest and will began shooting the movie later this year, ahead of its release on 22 May, 2020.
