9. There Will Be A Time Jump - Star Wars Episode IX

A few months ago, John Boyega was interviewed about prepping to shoot the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX and harmlessly responded with a comment that nevertheless seemed to say something quite significant about the movie's time frame.

Boyega said, "I can’t wait to start shooting the next and final leg of the [Star Wars] franchise. The first step is growing out my hair, so you can wait for the trailer to see why."

There aren't many logical reasons why Finn would have longer hair in Episode IX, and the fact that Boyega is suggesting there's a very specific reason for it rather than it being a cosmetic fancy seems to imply it's because the movie will leap several years along from The Last Jedi.

A time leap makes a ton of sense for a number of reasons: it would make Princess Leia's (Carrie Fisher) inevitable off-screen death seem more natural, while allowing the Resistance to grow and give Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) time to bolster himself as Snoke's (Andy Serkis) successor.

Though Boyega's comments aren't a 100.00% confirmation of the time jump, it doesn't take much reading into his comments to figure out that this is the route they're going to go, and it was already theorised by many fans prior to Boyega's remarks regardless. It just fits perfectly.
