10 Movie Storylines Actors REFUSED To Do
3. Viggo Mortensen Didn't Want Aragorn To Make A Return - The Hobbit
Peter Jackson's Middle-earth comeback that was The Hobbit trilogy saw the return of a ton of familiar The Lord of the Rings faces.
One LOTR figure who didn't agree to appear in that prequel series, however, was the King of Gondor himself, Viggo Mortensen. But that doesn't mean the Aragorn actor wasn't asked.
Mortensen actually recalled speaking to one of The Hobbit movies' producers all the way back in 2008 about whether he had any interest in reprising his role and working alongside Jackson and the gang again.
But the actor was quick to remind said individual that not only was Aragorn not a part of The Hobbit book and storyline, but there was also a 60-year gap between the books (via The Guardian).
It's not known what this potential Aragorn storyline in The Hobbit series would have looked like, or if the minds behind the big-screen adaptations had even entertained the idea of a potential return of the eventual king before talking to Mortensen.
Either way, Viggo wasn't interested. So, The Hobbit movies went on their unexpected journey without him.
