10 Movie Therapists That Would Damage You Worse Than Before

Psychology can be an awkward practice. In therapy, patients are expected to reveal all and uncover their private interior selves in front of a complete stranger. From walled in rooms, to squeaky stools and ticking clocks; it€™s not always a comfortable place to be. However, movie makers love patient-therapist interactions as they provide the perfect opportunity to expose a patient€™s thoughts and feelings without a jarring monologue. There€™s an array of drama set in psychiatric practices from In Treatment to Lie to Me; messed up patients with mental disorders have entered the mainstream media (although their portrayal is often questionable). What these settings offer is not only an interesting subject in terms of the patient but also in terms of the doctor who will often overshadow the patient with their own problems and neuroticism. Therapists of all shapes and sizes are shown treating people whilst tackling their own issues outside of work. From evil doctor demons to over-friendly Freudians they€™ve all managed to gain a spot on our silver screen. Click within for a list of ten therapists you could probably do without.
