10 Movie Threequels That Redeemed Their Franchise

8. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith

Before you Jedi leap down to the comments section and unleash the full power of the force on this entry, hear this: Phantom Menace, bar Maul, was a politically-laden bore and Attack Of The Clones was a woefully bad love story, dripping in CGI and bad plotting. So, it goes without saying that Revenge Of The Sith is the best of the trilogy, but better still, it's actually getting better with age.

Everything from Hayden Christensen's performance (seriously), the pacey General Grievous ruckus, Yoda laying down the smack and even the lava land finale still punches the old feels a lot more than it did before. Plus, Lucas's script takes a real focus on story development as opposed to the exposition heavy dialogue-driven scenes from the previous two prequels.

Sure, we'll forever have youngling memes, images of dead Wookies imprinted on the retinas and Vader's 'nooooooooo' echoing in our heads, but if it weren't for Lucas reining it in with this trilogy capper, the whole franchise could have gone into hiding for a lot longer than it did.
