10 Movie Trailers That Pointlessly Spoiled Huge Details

2. The Other Kid Dies - Pet Sematary (2019)

Credit where credit's due, 2019's Pet Sematary remake actually did something fairly daring and unexpected, by deviating from both Stephen King's source novel and the prior 1989 adaptation.

Rather than have the Creed family's infant son Gage (Hugo and Lucas Lavoie) get killed by a passing truck, this fate was instead handed to Gage's older sister Ellie (Jeté Laurence) in what's a genuinely jolting shift from what came before.

Or it would've been, had the trailers not given this rug-pull away for no damn reason.

Given that the sequence even has a fake-out with Gage almost getting hit, it would've been incredibly easy for the marketing team to cut around Ellie's death and imply that it's still Gage who gets killed, leading to one hell of a shocking reveal when audiences saw the full movie.

Withholding Ellie's death from the trailers would've entirely changed how audiences perceived that heartbreaking death scene, while telling fans of King's novel and the previous film that all bets were off for the remainder of the runtime.
