8. Bryan Cranston Is Moving On From Breaking Bad, And Will Be Screenwriting Bad?

The news has broken that Bryan Cranston, of Breaking Bad and Malcolm In The Middle fame (who really doesn't need an introduction at this point) will be taking the lead role in Jay Roach's upcoming film Trumbo. Bryan Cranston will be playing Trumbo himself, the old Hollywood screenwriter who played tinseltown at their own game and won during the fifties. The film will be a biopic of Dalton Trumbo, who managed to claw his way into being the world's highest paid screenwriter in the golden era of Hollywood, before he was found to be guilty of 'unamerican' activities by the McCarthy era House UnAmerican Activities Committee, which was essentially a body designed to accrue power through paranoid fear of communism and assert a new agenda in Hollywood. Genuine real life super villain stuff. After a short stint in prison, Trumbo tried to return to Hollywood and found that every door was shut in his face. Never one to let that get him down, he became more successful than ever by writing under a horde of fake names, managing to win two Academy Awards and earning more money than before. Way to stick it to the man. The film also stars Elle Fanning, Diane Lane and Helen Mirren and will be opening in 2015.
