9. King Arthur's First Casting Information
So far plot details about King Arthur have been kept under lock and key. Aside from the fact that the film will be directed by Guy Ritchie from Joby Harolds screenplay and that it is set to hit theatres July 2016, virtually nothing is known about the film. Despite the lack of details, excitement for the Warner Bros. film is high Guy Ritchies experience with British crime films and, more recently, the Sherlock Holmes movies mean that this version of the Arthurian legend will be unlike any we have seen before. The first major casting announcement could be around the corner as Idris Elba has been linked to play a Merlin-esque role who will train and mentor Arthur. The fact that Elba hasnt been linked with playing Merlin himself could mean that the film is a more loose adaptation of the legend of King Arthur than was originally thought, perhaps even being set in modern times. Some of you may recognise Elba from his roles in No Good Deed alongside Taraji P. Henson and The Gunman with Sean Penn. He is also set to have a voice part in Disneys fresh take on The Jungle Book as Shere Khan, the human-hating tiger.
