10 Movie Villains So Awesome They Ruined Their Franchise

9. Magneto- X-Men

There's a reason that every single X-Men movie to date seems to come down to a battle between Xavier's X-Men and Magneto. With seven movies to date, not one of them has had a villain to match the authority, intensity or sheer, uh, magnetism of Magneto. Aside from Jean Grey's Dark Phoenix (twice!) most of them haven't even really tried.

From Sir Ian McKellen's dignified old statesman to Michael Fassbender's furious Nazi hunter, the screen Magnetos have all but dominated every major X-Men storyline to date. The master of magnetism has turned on a dime so many times one wonders how Charles - by all accounts a pretty smart fellow - keeps letting him back on then team. We can but hope that by the time the X-Men make their inevitable debut in the MCU proper, people remember that other mutant villains are available. And we don't mean Mystique, either.
