With expectations being at a ridiculous, perhaps impossible high, The Matrix Reloaded was met with a divisive outlook from the fanboys; the action was largely praised, though the Agent Smiths vs. Neo Burly Brawl was ridiculed for its cheesy sound effects and ropey CGI, while the end of the film, which leaves viewers on tenterhooks with a crushing cliffhanger, was seen more as irritating than exciting.
