10 Movies Delayed To "Get It Right" (That Still Got It Wrong)

5. This Means War - The Creepy Rom Com Rejected By Martin Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Chris Rock, Everyone Else...

The Predator
20th Century Fox

Unlike many of the flicks listed here, this 2012 rom com meets action movie mash up wasn’t a highly anticipated franchise instalment, nor was it expected to do Sahara-scale huge business at the box office. Following two spies who fall for the same unassuming civilian, the film cast Chris Pine and Tom Hardy just as the two became household names and could have hoped to coast by on their easy, affable charm, as well the presence of always likeable Reese Witherspoon as the object of their competing affections.

However, the film was a flop, despised by critics and ignored by audiences, and its director Charlie’s Angels helmer McG wouldn’t shoot another success until 2017’s The Babysitter. So what went wrong?

Well, maybe it’s telling that Simpsons writer Larry Doyle saw a draft of the script as early as 1996, wherein the pair were software developers, meaning the project was in turnaround for at least a decade and a half. Add to that the fact that Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Sam Worthington were all attached to star at various points before opting out, and it starts to become clear that the myriad delays faced by this flick were warning signs of its eventual dud status.
