10 Movies Everyone Skips In A Franchise

1. Beverly Hills Cop III

A Good Day to Die Hard
Paramount Pictures

Beverly Hills Cop III is a deeply baffling threequel that strips away the grit of its iconic predecessors and turns protagonist Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) into a pure laughing stock - and not in a good way.

The third entry into the action-comedy franchise ill-advisedly revolves around a goofy cockamamie counterfeiting scheme set at a Disneyworld-esque theme park, the very notion of which clashes with the film's R-rated tone. But what truly hobbles Beverly Hills Cop III is that it's just painfully unfunny - even the reliable Murphy struggles to wring many laughs from a script that clearly wasn't ready for shooting.

Since the film's release, much has been written about the issues that Paramount had getting a script finished, as well as the production's bloated budget, none of which is even remotely surprising from watching the end product.

With the recent fourth movie, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, turning out to be a pleasantly surprising follow-up, though, at least you can just ignore this one and still enjoy a solid trilogy of Axel Foley romps.
