What You Remember It For: "GET TO DA CHOPPAAAA"

As a result of its immense meme-ability, everyone has heard Arnie's famous line, but casual movie-watchers won't be aware that it's taken from Predator.

This makes the moment just another funny quote embedded in the endless amounts of Arnie compilations circulating YouTube, and it's easy to forget that the movie itself - and this whole scene - is anything but funny.

Predator is a great action movie, a solid thriller and a chilling horror all at once. Of course, it contains the quotable lines, colourful characters and oiled-up muscles synonymous with other '80s actioners (and most Schwarzenegger flicks), but it's also genuinely terrifying, with many bloody deaths and a raw feeling of desperation that's palpable each time our heroes encounter the titular hunter.

And while "get to da choppaaaa!" is indeed a great line, let's not forget "I ain't got time to bleed", "you are one ugly motherf****r" and the criminally-overlooked "this stuff will make you a god damn sexual Tyrannosaurus, just like me."

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
