10 Movies Nobody Could Stop Thinking About

4. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of the most perceptive and devastating films ever made about relationships.

Filtered through the lens of a speculative sci-fi future where people can have memories of former relationships erased, director Michel Gondry and writer Charlie Kaufman dig deep into the inextricable connection between love, memory, destiny, and identity.

It is fundamentally a movie which holds a mirror up to viewers and their own lived romantic experiences, and while that will certainly be uncomfortable for some, it is a profound, primal piece of work which scratches away at the audience's own past while forcing them to consider their future, too.

An Oscar-nominated Kate Winslet and equally brilliant Jim Carrey deliver some of the finest work of their careers in a film that both mourns and celebrates the contradictory, paradoxical nature of human connection.

If you haven't seen it in a while, it's aged splendidly and well worth watching again - though let's be honest, you probably still remember it incredibly well either way.
