10 Movies Nobody Wants To Admit Suck

8. Blue Beetle

Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny
Warner Bros.

Now to be completely fair to Blue Beetle, it's far from the worst film in the DC Extended Universe, but let's be honest, with that statement we're quite comfortably setting the bar in Hell.

By far the most interesting thing about Blue Beetle is that it's the first major live-action superhero movie with a Latino lead, because outside its laudable representation it's yet another mind-numbingly generic cape flick that brings nothing new to the table.

The plot, characters, and dialogue all feel largely boilerplate, Susan Sarandon gives such a snoozy performance as the lame duck villain she was lucky to avoid a Razzie, and it's directed with little flair beyond being basically functional.

In many respects, Blue Beetle was "the little superhero movie that could" of 2023 - a scrappier, lower-budget underdog that people wanted to be good - yet in retrospect, it's incredibly obvious why Warner Bros. was originally going to send this thing straight to streaming.
