10 Movies Set To Release In 2021 That We're Worried About
5. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Now, this one is more on the side of caution. The trailer looks great, but there is so much pressure on the Ghostbusters franchise following the negative response to the 2016 instalment that this movie has a lot of work to do.
The handling of this universe and the characters is precious for many original fans, so there will be expectations of promise given that the trailer offers a film more rooted in the canon of the 80's original film. It sets hopes high for a return to form, and so missing the mark could prove harmful to the film's reception.
Also, with the casting of Finn Wolfhard, it would be a real tragedy to see this film become a Stranger Things styled film that wanders away from its desired premise. The idea of a small group of kids in a suburban town discovering strange and supernatural things is all well and good, but since Stranger Things and IT, both of which Wolfhard has been a part of, we should all want a Ghostbusters story free from this recurring formula.
We ain't afraid of no ghosts, as long as we get them in a good, true-to-the-franchise storyline.
