10 Movies Set To Release In 2021 That We're Worried About

3. Godzilla v Kong

Godzilla Vs Kong
Warner Bros.

A giant gorilla squaring off against the world's favourite Kaiju monster in a massive cinematic battle should be amazing, and for all intents and purposes it could well be. Our only hang-up is based on the quality of the film's predecessors and how quickly this mash-up seems to be coming about.

Godzilla (2014) was a good film, and it acted as a great establishing movie for the massive beast in the new era of films. Kong: Skull Island (2017), King Kong's respective introduction, was... not. It was dry and tame in comparison, and fans deserve there to be more epic build up before the battle of the monsters.

Since the MCU, every movie studio wants to create an amazing shared universe, but there is a right and proper way to do it. Legendary and Warner Bros. seem to want the rewards of that world without the labour of properly building it, and it could bring the whole thing down.

Kong needs to have an equal chance of winning, but from their respective solo movies, he isn't as cool or fierce as his reptilian opponent. Godzilla has received two films prior to their mash-up, in which he was developed and shown to be an awesome stand-alone monsters. Kong has not received this treatment, and seems to be being shoe-horned into this matchup.

This quickness and the lack of substance of Kong's presence could limit the impact and draw of their fight, leaving audiences feeling that the mash-up was rushed and underdeveloped..
