10 Movies So Bad Their Directors Disowned Them

5. Supernova (Walter Hill)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUdy0Cu3f_o Given how ineptly helmed his recent Sylvester Stallone flop Bullet to the Head was, perhaps it's not too surprising that Walter Hill's had a few quiet duds slinking around in his back catalogue, specifically this 2000 sci-fi stinker, starring James Spader and Angela Bassett. Terrible CGI and awful performances do little to help a film that already felt far too much like Event Horizon, and to make matters worse, director Jack Sholder conducted substantial reshoots once Hill's work was done, with Francis Ford Coppola's help also being enlisted in the editing bay, to little or no avail. Because the Alan Smithee name had become too notable outside the production side of the industry, Hill opted for the more plausible moniker Thomas Lee, and as it stands, numerous sources suggest that little of his original work actually remains in the final cut. What's clear is that whoever directed Supernova, it is a Godawful piece of crap and an embarrassment for all involved.
