10 Movies So Crazy Over The Top They Were Hilarious

4. Machete/Machete Kills

Nobody was expecting Machete to be high art. After all, it is a movie based on a tongue-in-cheek trailer that played with Grindhouse, which was itself a love letter to exploitation cinema. Machete and its sequel are exactly the kind of movies you imagine Robert Rodriguez grew up watching and presented with the opportunity to make one himself, the multi-hyphenate filmmaker goes for broke.

Machete and Machete Kills are packed with cartoonish violence, generous levels of blood and guts and outrageously excessive action, but the real appeal comes from an absolutely stacked cast that are all in on the joke and treat the material as such.

Possibly the most eclectic cast ever assembled for a franchise, only in the realms of the B-movie would you see Danny Trejo top-lining while the likes of Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Mel Gibson, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba and Don Johnson lend support.

Any movie that has the balls to bill Charlie Sheen as Carlos Estevez and have him play the President of the United States is well worth a look, its just a shame that it looks like Machete Kills Again... In Space isn't going to happen.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
