5. Osmosis Jones Is Mentioned In A Newspaper Article - The Iron Giant
Almost exactly half-way through the legendary animated film The Iron Giant, keep your eyes on the newspaper that paranoid federal agent Kent Mansley (Christopher McDonald) is reading.
As he leafs through it, in the upper-right corner you'll briefly be able to see the headline, "Studio kept alive by Osmosis greenlight." This might seem completely innocuous until you remember that, two years later, Warner Bros. released the animated film Osmosis Jones.
The story goes that Warner Bros. Feature Animation had to pick between two films after The Iron Giant - either the Bill Murray and Chris Rock-starring animation/live-action hybrid Osmosis Jones, or The Iron Giant director Brad Bird's new animated superhero comedy, The Incredibles.
Warner Bros. evidently hedged their bets on Osmosis Jones - hence its inclusion here as an Easter egg - which went on to received wildly mixed reviews and bomb catastrophically at the box office.
As we all know, The Incredibles went to Disney and fared just a teensy bit better.
