10 Movies That Abandoned Awesome Ideas Halfway Through

8. Dinosaurs Vs. A Volcano - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

When Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was in production, word on the street was that the movie would revolve around Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) attempting the rescue the dinosaurs from Isla Nublar as their existence is threatened by an impending volcanic eruption.

The marketing naturally milked the hell out of this, inundating potential viewers with awe-striking footage of the absolute mayhem of humans and dinosaurs alike trying to flee the lava-spewing volcano.

And for about an hour of its runtime, Fallen Kingdom seems to deliver on the promises of a Jurassic Park movie that's doing something different and interesting with the formula - offering up two disaster movies for the price of one, essentially.

Yet ultimately the volcano sequence is over by the half-way point, with the action subsequently shifting to the Lockwood estate on the mainland for the remainder.

Fallen Kingdom then becomes a decidedly less interesting blockbuster concerned with dinosaur auctions and human clones, because reasons.

A volcanic eruption on Isla Nublar had an insane amount of potential for a dramatic, suspenseful, action-packed Jurassic Park movie, but instead the filmmakers opted to switch gears half-way through and conclude with something far less focused and entertaining.
