10 Movies That Changed The World Forever

6. JFK

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW15dp3R-6U Count on Oliver Stone to stir up the vat of controversy whenever he works on a new film, and in his 1991 political thriller JFK, it was no different. Controversy arose before the film had even been released, over the theory the film posits, that JFK's assassination may have been a conspiracy from within his own administration. Many saw the film within poor taste, and Stone received numerous death threats as well as a very public denunciation from the President of the MPAA, who rather friovlously compared him to a Nazi propagandist (and we'll get to one of them soon). Still, the film sparked enough public debate that the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 was signed while the Assassination Records Review Board was formed, in order to assemble all documentation and evidence about the assassination in order to arrive at a consensus. The remaining information won't be made public for a few more years, but in positing a pretty daft theory, Stone's film at least promoted greater transparency between the US government and its public.
