10 Movies That Completely Switched Genre Halfway Through

1. From Dusk Till Dawn

Close friends and frequent collaborators Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez found their respective success through very different mediums, with the former famed for his razor-sharp writing and reliance on the crime genre, while the latter was a jack-of-all-trades willing to try his hand at almost anything.

From Dusk Till Dawn best sums up the differences between them, with Tarantino writing and Rodriguez directing a movie that showcases both of their filmmaking personalities. The first half is a classic QT crime thriller full of whip-smart dialogue and astute in-character observation, but as soon as the unlikely travel buddies show up at the Titty Twister all bets are off.

As soon as we see our first set of fangs, From Dusk Till Dawn goes completely batsh*t insane and never lets up, with the wild genre flip resulting in one of the most deranged and gloriously enjoyable B-movies of the 1990s.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
