10 Movies That Couldn't Get Time Travel Right

6. The Terminator

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4Jo8QoOTQ4 The plot of The Terminator revolves around a woman, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) who is being stalked by a machine (Arnold Schwarzenegger) that has been sent back from the future to kill her, in order that she won't give birth to a son who will lead the successful human resistance against the machines. In rebuke, her son John, while acting as a leader in the future, sends back a human protector, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), to try and destroy the Terminator. The first issue is an intentional one on the part of James Cameron; John sends Kyle back to protect Sarah, and the two fall in love, at which point Kyle impregnates Sarah with John. Thus, it creates this cyclical loop in which John has to send Kyle back in order to father himself, which by itself is enough to make most people's heads hurt at the straining logic. It gets worse when you imagine that if The Terminator was to kill John, then there would be no need to send a machine back through time. But this would mean that John would be created, enacting a time paradox. I need to have a lie down.
