10 Movies That Improved On History By Blatantly Lying

1. Gone With The Wind

Admittedly, staying awake through parts of Gone with the Wind proves a bit of a challenge itself, but there are rewards to be had, specifically that classic line that everyone knows - "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn". For all of the film's intents and purposes as a sweeping melodramatic romance, it makes sense that, by even the admission of author Janelle Collette, the film is a historical anachronism; in reality there would be institutional racism running rampant, and of course, this would entirely detract from our ability to focus on the love story. Given that the film endures as a (snoozy) Hollywood classic, and became the biggest box office success story ever (still outgrossing Avatar if adjusted for inflation), it's safe to say the changes were well worth it. Which fibbing Hollywood flicks are your favourite? Let us know in the comments below.
