10 Movies That Instantly Told You They Were Garbage

9. Catwoman

Resident Evil Final Chapter
Warner Bros.

It's always a bit of a worrying sign when a movie opens with a needlessly grandiose, overlong opening titles sequence, and that's certainly the case with 2004's Halle Berry-starring Catwoman.

The opening titles, an almost four-minute slideshow of Egyptian murals and newspaper cuttings set to a shockingly generic "intense" musical score from regular Hans Zimmer collaborator Klaus Badelt, ensure the film feels like an exhausting slog before it's even really begun.

And even when the movie proper starts, it kicks off with a deeply terrible voiceover narration from our superhero protagonist, Patience Phillips (Berry), who listlessly details her own sorry life working for a cosmetics company.

Soon enough we're drowned in exhausting exposition about the company's malevolent owners, and it's agonisingly clear we're subjecting ourselves to a major slice of trash.

Ultimately Catwoman never really gets any better - it's a consistently garish, poorly conceived piece of work, and one memorable largely for Halle Berry accepting her Worst Actress Razzie award for it in person, where she gladly called Catwoman a "piece of s**t movie."
