10 Movies That Made You Love Unbearable Actors

1. Adam Sandler - Punch-Drunk Love

Arguably the most insufferable actor of all-time, Adam Sandler puts in a sweet, tender and brilliantly layered performance in Paul Thomas Anderson's criminally underseen "rom-com" Punch-Drunk Love - to such a degree that you'll actually be left asking, "Hey, does Adam Sandler have an identical twin that we never heard about or something?" Nope: it just turns out that Adam Sandler can put in a worthwhile performance under the right set of circumstances - that is, outside of those awful, broad comedies he favours. On paper, Paul Thomas Anderson and Adam Sander seem like sure-fire candidates for the most ill-judged director/actor team-up ever conceived, and yet under Anderson's guidance, Sander puts in a performance that is not only bearable, it changes your perceptions of him as an actor entirely. As Barry, a small business owner with anger issues, Sandler is a heap of beautiful anxiety - for 95 brilliant minutes, you'll forget that Grown Ups 2 even exists. Like this list?
