10 Movies That Made You Question Life Itself

4. Schindler€™s List (1993)

Universal PicturesUniversal PicturesWhat's It All About? The true story of a WWII German industrialist and member of the Nazi Party (played by Liam Neeson) who gradually grows to abhor the Nazis€™ persecution and mass murder of the Jewish race, leading him to employ an all Jewish workforce in his factory in order to try and save them from the gas chamber. What's The Question Then? Can one man make a difference against evil? Does It Answer It? Whoever saves one life saves the world entirely. Or put another way: all that is necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing. In this case, we have the story of one enigmatically motivated man who did decide to do something despite the danger. Whether it was enough is perhaps another issue of course, given the scale of the crimes committed by the Nazis. As Stanley Kubrick said of the film back in 1993: " was about success, wasn't it? The Holocaust is about 6 million people who get killed. Schindler's List is about 600 who don't." That said, it remains a monumental achievement in filmmaking and arguably one of the most important films ever made, if only for its reach to such a wide audience on such a catastrophic subject. Many people won€™t have read any Primo Levi, but they will almost certainly have seen Schindler€™s List. Lest we ever forget. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAM5q837enk
