10 Movies That Missed Out The Money Shot
8. Frank Abagnale's Last Escape - Catch Me If You Can
Catch Me If You Can is a pretty packed story, with some of Frank Abagnale's exploits leaving jaws hanging and more than a little envy at his sheer audacity. But what if you were to find out that Abagnale's greatest ever moment - and his most unbelievable criminal achievement - didn't even make it into the film?
You need not wonder on that reality, because it's exactly what happened, because Steven Spielberg chose not to put Abagnale's final escape, with no logic to why. Or at least little justification when you hear the tale.
After his arrest, somehow, Abagnale had his detention commitment papers forgotten and was mistaken for an undercover prison inspector with all the inherent privileges. Naturally, he took advantage and got an accomplice posing as his fiancée to smuggle him a business card belonging to "Inspector C.W. Dunlap" of the Bureau of Prisons that she had stolen.
She also took the business card of the FBI agent in charge of Abagnale's case and put her own number on it. All Abagnale had to do from there was reveal his undercover "secret", show his card and give the doctored card to his guards as proof of his handler. She answered and was able to organise an unsupervised meeting, allowing Abagnale to flee to Washington, where he again evaded escape when he was recognised by claiming to be an FBI agent.
Surely that all deserved to be in there?!
