10 Movies That Never Got Better Than Their Opening Moments

When Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were first brought together in 2012, as Tony Stark said himself, it took them a bit of time to get any sort of traction. The same thing couldn’t be said about their second team-up three years later, however.

Naturally, the Avengers sequel was able to pick up with the six heroes already as an established team, where the original movie had to build into it. Seeing Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye all fighting together from the very beginning was arguably the best way the movie could possibly have opened.

As the team fought HYDRA in Sokovia, trying to penetrate the defences through to Strucker and Loki’s sceptre, there was a fantastic one shot that took the audience through every one of the six fighting off HYDRA’s goons, before an epic shot of the team launching into a new phase of the battle together.

It’s no secret that the rest of the movie was a disappointment, and is looked back on as one of the weakest MCU movies to date, even after the wildly inconsistent Phase Four, and even the Battle of Sokovia that was the story’s conclusion couldn’t quite match the awe of seeing the old band back together again after three long years.
