10 Movies That Never Got Better Than Their Opening Moments

3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is something of a walking paradox when it comes to his appearances on screen. Though he is the single most popular character to come from Fox's X-Men universe, until Logan his solo movies fizzled out.

While The Wolverine was underwhelming, it is X-Men Origins: Wolverine that is largely considered one of the weakest comic book movies in recent memory. What was supposed to be the first in a series of Origins movies, Logan's first solo outing killed any hope of any further such prequels.

As a telling of the mysterious hero’s origin, the movie should have and could have been a joy to see, but fell as flat as it possibly could have. A forgettable story, a weak supporting cast, and the crimes that Fox committed against Deadpool aside, the movie did at least give a phenomenal look at Logan and his brother through history right at the very start.

We all know Wolverine doesn't age and that he loves a good fight, and the montage showing him and Sabretooth running through the likes of the American Civil War, World War I and II, and the Vietnam War did more for his backstory and development than anything in the rest of the movie.
