10 Movies That Prove The '80s Was The Golden Age Of Action

3. Raiders of the Lost Ark

Die Hard
Paramount Pictures

You can probably count on one hand the number of summer blockbusters better than Raiders of the Lost Ark, with Indiana Jones cementing himself as cinema's newest icon long before the prologue had even finished.

The bearded superpowers of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas combined to turn their love of old-school serials into what might very well be the greatest adventure movie ever made, with Harrison Ford perfecting his easygoing everyman charisma as the man that no doubt convinced a lot of people to become archeologists in the hope that it was as exciting as Raiders made it look.

There are virtually no flaws to be found across the entire 115 minutes, with Spielberg and Lucas managing to capture lightning in a bottle as Raiders of the Lost Ark delivered a near-perfect storm of studio filmmaking of the highest caliber that blew all of the competition out of the water.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
