10 Movies That Prove The 90's Were The Golden Age Of Action

The ultimate in high-concept movie pitches, Speed turns its one-line synopsis into 116 minutes of adrenaline-pumping action that holds up almost a quarter of a century later as one of the greatest movies the genre has ever seen.

All of the elements required to make a great action movie fell seamlessly into place; a plot packed full of tension that never lets up for a second, great chemistry between the two leads, a memorable villain, a fleshed-out cast of fully-formed supporting characters, a script loaded with memorable one-liners and most importantly of all a succession of increasingly-escalating action sequences that are never anything less than full-throttle.

It may have spawned one of the worst sequels of all time, but The Bus That Wouldn't Slow Down nonetheless remains an undisputed classic of the action genre and a masterclass in pulse-pounding, heart-stopping thrills.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
