10 Movies That Put Fans In Denial
4. Jurassic World
A classic example of a studio preying on nostalgia to score big with fans (and therefore box office) regardless of the final product's quality. A full 14 years since the franchise was run to the ground, it's no wonder fans were desperate to see the series back on a high.
And on a popcorn-shovelling blockbuster level, Jurassic World delivers. With bigger, more highly engineered dinosaurs and an open park, there was a lot of creative room Jurassic World could explore, which should've been great for the writers.
But it seemed like they were so preoccupied with creating massive action set pieces and calling back to the original that they forgot to give the characters or plot any sort of proper attention.
Cheesy bordering on cartoonish, no one in the film was given any meaningful development, instead of making decisions no one could believe. That maybe could've been forgiven if the plot was vaguely coherent, but the sheer volume of plot holes made sure that wasn't the case.
Once the hype around its record-breaking opening weekend died down, it was easy to see that past all its nostalgia string-tugging, it was all scale, but no soul.
