9. Man Of Steel (2013)
Zack Snyder's long-awaited Superman reboot
Man Of Steel suffered from a fate often attributed to its titular character: it was boring. The jury's still out on whether Clark Kent does, in fact, possess a personality akin to that of a small fish, and although Henry Cavill does try to inject his character with a dash of added flair, it's safe to say that it's not enough to stop the movie from feeling repetitive, aimless, heavy and difficult to sit through. A Superman movie should be anything but boring, of course, given the fact that much of the story involves alien races, explosions, superpowers and what you would've thought to be an interesting character arc. And yet Snyder fumbles with actually finding a suitable narrative for this, rendering the effects and the top notch actors useless. There's no romance, no humour, and real trace of comic book wit to be found. Just like steel, it's cold.
