The Usual Suspects is the classic misdirection drama which hides the truth to the plot in plain sight. Bryan Singer's 1995 mystery-thriller has gone down as having the most unexpected twist in cinema. K

The narrative is told in flashback as Verbal Kint recounts to a police detective how he and his associates were recruited to do a job by a sinister and mysterious crime lord, Keyser Söze. After telling the cops his story, Verbal is free to go but the detective soon realises half the details were taken from artefacts littered around his office. It is then strongly implied that Verbal was Keyser Söze the entire time and simply inventing half the story.

There are several clues hinting at this revelation throughout the movie. Firstly, Vebal can be seen looking for inspiration around the detectives office as he invents his tale. Secondly, in an early scene Keyser Söze whose face is hidden, is shown using a golden lighter and wearing a golden watch - in a later scene, Verbal is shown using the same lighter and wearing the watch. He also picks the two items up after he is freed by the police.

But the most glaring give away was the the name Keyser Söze itself. Söze is derived from a Turkish phrase which means "to talk too much", literally translating to "Verbal" - the character's name was the give away from the start.
