10 Movies That Started As Something Else Entirely

8. Minority Report Could Have Been Connected To Total Recall

Minority Report
20th Century Fox

Loosely based on Philip K. Dick's short story of the same name, Minority Report is one of the best science fiction films of the early 2000s. Originally, the film was developed as a sequel to another big screen adaptation of a Philip K. Dick book - Total Recall.

Already that raises a few questions. Would Minority Report have been set around the same time as Total Recall or would it take place in the future? Not many details are known about the first draft of the script developed by Jon Cohen or even if Arnold Schwarzenegger was intended to return to the Philip K. Dick-Verse.

Dutch filmmaker Jan De Bont was initially attached to direct Minority Report but soon after Spielberg and Cruise became interested in the project. Spielberg refused to start filming until the script was written to his standards.

Spielberg also mentioned that although Jan De Bont was initially involved and is even credited on the film, he had nothing to do with this version of Minority Report.
